New Title for SAW VII?

SAW 7 News

Ok, it’s not really a new title, but there apparently have been some additions to the title. We all know that originally it was just going to be SAW VII, but then the 3D craze hit and the title changed to SAW 3D (which I still find very lame). But now, according to a press release that Cinematical got a hold of, the new title of the movie is “SAW 3D: The Traps Come Alive”. Wow, are you serious? I pray that they drop that last part and stick with just “SAW 3D” if they insist on changing it from SAW VII. I’m obviously a fan of the series and realize that it’s had it’s ups and downs over the years, but seriously, the traps come alive? That’s almost as bad as “Boondock Saints 2: All Saints day”… ugh, I just hope the movie doesn’t suck too much, I’m still not on board with all this 3D nonsense.

Update: Apparently the producers have come out and said that “The Traps Come Alive” is only the tag-line for the movie and not part of the title… Thank God. You can read more from that interview over at Shocktillyoudrop.com

Im a huge fan of the Saw series, and Ive been hooked on the storyline for all six parts now. After seeing the sixth installment (which was by far the best) I was really excited about seeing the seventh. And now this shit. “Traps come alive?!?!?!” sounds like the people at lionsgate had a little too much pot at their slumber party. Besides, none of the saw fans ive talked to want to see it in 3D anyway. Im very disappointed in Lionsgate right now. I dont get how they can be this stupid. Come october, the opening titles will read “Saw VII” again, and all the bozos down at the imax will be waiting for the money theyll never get

I don’t care for 3D movies at all, but I despise when a movie is shot in 2D and then converted to 3D after the fact. So it’s nice to see that the SAW team went into this one knowing it would be in 3D and shot it using 3D technology to avoid the terrible quality of 3D conversions (even though 3D in general takes away from the movie in my opinion). So in this case I’ll probably check it out in theaters in 3D and then, of course, again in 2D when the blu-ray comes out since I don’t think I’ll be migrating to 3D technology in my house any time soon.
